Welcome! I am glad you want to know more about me. I am a Professional Land Surveyor, living and working in North Carolina. I am the proud owner of a 2003 MINI Cooper S, a.k.a. “Sprocket.”
I belong to several professional organizations as well as a large club of MINI enthusiasts… the Tarheel MINI Motoring Club.
I love small cars. I have always wanted a mini, so when the opportunity came around I was overjoyed to find a great MINI with all the features I had so long dreamed about. This wasn’t exactly the little car I had always wanted but it was close enough.
My original interests in motor vehicles were not small cars, quite the opposite. When I was younger I was a bit of a gearhead, spending all my extra cash on magazines and books dealing with American muscle cars, specifically Chevys. My Dad is an excellent backyard mechanic, and he always had some sort of project car when I was a kid.
From there, I evolved however… European motor cars, especially British and German ones became my passion. My favorites were the early model mini Rallye cars. Those were some of the finest racing machines ever built. Lately my tastes have ventured into the BMW world. If I were to purchase another vehicle I am pretty sure it would be some sort of high performance European racer.
I have been a loyal follower of the Grateful Dead for more than 20 years. I went on tours from 1989-1995 and have been to hundreds of dead shows. I slowed down a bit after Jerry Garcia died, but to this day I listen to bootlegs of live Grateful Dead almost daily.I began trading shows in 1990, and have met many kind people who were also tape/cd traders throughout the years. Unlike many bands these days, the dead allowed their listeners to freely trade live concert recordings. In my opinion this strengthened the community that followed and supported the Grateful Dead. That’s why I still do what I do today, and will continue to enjoy the thousands of hours of recordings Jerry and the boys left us.
So thats about it, there is a lot more to my story, but I won’t ramble on. I hope you enjoy this site, and I wish you the all the best.
Cheers… Gonzo
