Coopercharged is a website dedicated to MINI's and the enthisuasts owned by MINI's. I drive a 2003 MINI Cooper S and I am continually modifying, or planning to modify it. a new year and a new look
After letting my site sit for over a year, I finally decided to make some changes. I have made a few improvements to the website code along with a remake of the databses. I have not updated on a regular basis, but I hope that will change. I am a habitual slacker though so who knows?
Over the last year I have made a firm commitment to switch to all CSS styling. This has been quite a learning experience and I am far from being an expert. One particular thorn in my side had been the old style "contact me" using a mailto tag which left my email address open to spammers and such. I have fixed that with a new contact system, and I think I have worked out most of the bugs. Why don't you try it out?
I have also become quite adept at coding html markup and bypassing the wyswyg style. I only use this for general placement now and do most of my coding by hand. Strangely enough it's easier that way.
A few of the changes I have made:
- Increased the total width of the page. I Decided most of the people that may come to my page have at least 1024x768 resolution or higher, so I increased the maximum width of the page to 1024 pixels.
- Designed a new header image to fit the new page width.
- Reconfigured the gallery to include the new header image as well as the navigation menu.
- Added three more buttons to the menu bar along the top. I am not sure what I want to use these for, but it gives me room to expand.
- Updated WordPress and Gallery2 to the latest versions.
- Updated my WordPress Theme to match the static pages. I have taken apart an existing theme and twisted it for my own pleasure. I have made so many adjustments to that original theme, not much of it still exists. My thanks goes out to the author of the original static page.
- Widgetized my WordPress Theme. The current theme is based on a combination of the static page listed above and another WordPress theme. My thanks goes out to the author of the Wordpress theme.
- Added a new "contact me setup". I like it, but it may take some more tweaking to get just right.
- Rebuilt the WordPress database. The process destroyed my previous posts, but there wasn't much there so a fresh start is going to help.
- Added Gallery2 support to WordPress.

change... it does the head good!
I made a slight update to the header image so hopefully I will not have the problem that was being seen with the title block anymore. I couldn't figure out why my code was doing strange stuff, so instead I replaced it with a static image. This is just a quick fix. I am still not satisfied with the way it looks, so it will probably change once I actually learn how to write bug free html.
I am learning more as the weeks progress even though I have not been updating very regularly. This is my first website, so I am making things up as I go. If you have any tips or tricks please send them my way.
site update
I have made a few changes today. Nope, this is not an April fools joke! Most everything should be working as intended now. There will be more content soon as well. I have more pictures to add to the gallery and many more links to sift through and post up. If you run across anything that doesn't look right (I have seen odd things happening to the title in the header for example) please drop a note to Gonzo. Thanks.
